Every city has a landmark shop. Vadodara has Thakur’s. A not-to-be-missed shopping experience for residents and tourists, Thakur’s has been an integral part of the social milieu since the 1960s.

Today, Thakur’s seven shops dot the landscape of the western Indian state of Gujarat’s third largest city, also known as Baroda. When it comes to ethnic Indian wear collection, there is none to beat Thakur’s in terms of variety and quality. The collection of sarees, salwar kameez and lehenga choli under one roof is simply breathtakingly massive.

The first Thakur’s showroom was founded by Arjundas Sadnani in 1968. Since then, every member of Thakur’s family, led by Arjundas Sadnani and Govind Sadnani, worked ceaselessly and with inspiring devotion for building up the business through sheer customer satisfaction and delivering more than their expectations.

Five years after setting up the first showroom in Ghadiali Poel, Thakur’s second showroom made its appearance across the road, offering an impressive variety of products spread across 700 square feet – almost three times bigger than the first showroom.

After consolidating business and the brand over two decade, Thakur’s expanded the network by opening its third showroom, a 200 square feet facility, on M G Road, just opposite to UCO Bank. In 1998, the fourth showroom was opened in Alkapuri Concorde building. The next showroom, opened in 2005 on M G Road, made its presence felt by everyone for its spaciousness and appeal at 2,160 square feet.

Thakur’s took the experience a further notch up in 2007 by opening its sixth showroom, measuring 6,500 square feet, in Shrim Shallini Mall. Our seventh showroom, a 2,100 square feet facility, was opened in 2009 on Mandvi Main Road.

Today, Thakur’s network of showrooms offers customers the most convenient option for shopping for religious festivals, family festivities, marriages and social gatherings.

One could find an impressive collection of sarees at Thakur’s, in the range of ₹ 200 to ₹ 2,00,000. As many as 280 employees, including a significant number of women staff, work across Thakur’s showrooms. Thakur’s enjoy several distinctions, the top being the first to start the concept of fixed price.
